{"id":301621,"date":"2017-03-14T12:00:15","date_gmt":"2017-03-14T12:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=301621"},"modified":"2017-03-14T12:00:15","modified_gmt":"2017-03-14T12:00:15","slug":"driver-in-new-town-articulated-truck-crash-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=301621","title":{"rendered":"Driver in New Town articulated truck crash arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The driver of the articulated truck that crashed into 16 vehicles at &#8216;Commando&#8217;, a suburb of New Town in Accra on Monday, has been arrested.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the Benin-registered truck, who had come to offload goods at a market in the area, lost control of the steering wheel and crashed into the 16 cars.<\/p>\n<p>Two persons sustained injuries in the process.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-301475 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/articulated-truck-crashes-12-vehicles-6-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"articulated-truck-crashes-12-vehicles-6\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-301476 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/articulated-truck-crashes-12-vehicles-7-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"articulated-truck-crashes-12-vehicles-7\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, the Nima Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Abraham Acquaye, said the driver has been arrested and will assist with investigations.<\/p>\n<p>The driver, who did not sustain any injuries, is said to be a Beninois and doesn\u2019t speak any other language apart from French, Supt Acquaye revealed<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the course of our investigations, it came to the fore that he encountered a brake failure and that is what actually precipitated this.
