{"id":301082,"date":"2017-03-12T08:49:06","date_gmt":"2017-03-12T08:49:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=301082"},"modified":"2017-03-12T08:49:06","modified_gmt":"2017-03-12T08:49:06","slug":"and-the-heritagecaravan-returned-to-accra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=301082","title":{"rendered":"&#8230;And the #HeritageCaravan returned to Accra"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After six days of touring the country, the Citi FM Heritage Caravan has returned to Accra.<\/p>\n<p>The Second edition of the Heritage Caravan, saw over ninety tourists embark on a road trip to discover the rich and lovely story of Ghana embedded in different parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p>This year the Caravan started its tour from the Greater Accra Region, to the Ashanti, Northern, Upper East, Brong Ahafo, Western and Central Regions.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-299073 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Heritage-Caravan-sets-off-3-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"heritage-caravan-sets-off-3\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Great sponsors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 2017 trip was sponsored by Vodafone Cash, HFC Susu Plus Account and Top Oil.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fciti97.3%2Fvideos%2F10154654304671107%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<strong>Day one<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Heritage Caravan\u2019s first tour was Ga Mashie, where patrons took a view of the capital from the top of the Jamestown Lighthouse.<\/p>\n<p>The colonial-era lighthouse was built in the 1930s and sits in the fishing communities of this area.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-299188 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/ed267c25-490d-4976-8e77-188562865863-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Heritage caravan, james town light house\" width=\"663\" height=\"497\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The light house, which is 34 metres (112 ft) above sea level, has a visibility of 16 nautical miles (30 km).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-299189 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/6ce35964-a69d-45e7-af25-1193bd485604-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Heritage caravan, james town light house\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day two<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Day two of the Heritage Caravan took us to Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region. In Kumasi, the team had a night of music and Karaoke at the plush Anita hotel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-299690 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Heritage-caravan-day-two-in-Kumasi-34.jpg\" alt=\"heritage-caravan-day-two-in-kumasi-34\" width=\"641\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-299791 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Heritage-caravan-day-two-in-Kumasi-135.jpg\" alt=\"heritage-caravan-day-two-in-kumasi-135\" width=\"960\" height=\"639\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After spending the night there, the caravan toured the Kwame Nkrumah Sword Site and the Kumasi Fort\/Military Museum.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fciti97.3%2Fvideos%2F10154657674661107%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-299755 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Heritage-caravan-day-two-in-Kumasi-99.jpg\" alt=\"heritage-caravan-day-two-in-kumasi-99\" width=\"960\" height=\"639\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day three<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the third day, the caravan set of to Tamale, the Northern Regional capital from Kumasi via the Brong Ahafo Region.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-299740 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Heritage-caravan-day-two-in-Kumasi-84.jpg\" alt=\"heritage-caravan-day-two-in-kumasi-84\" width=\"960\" height=\"641\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This journey made patrons see towns like Offinso, Akumadan, Techiman, Kintampo, Buipe among others.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fciti97.3%2Fvideos%2F10154662541296107%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nOther key sites that was also spotted along the route included the Offin, White Volta, and the Black Volta. On arrival in Tamale, the Northern Regional Minster, Salifu Saeed welcomed us with a surprise cocktail.<\/p>\n<p>The caravan then lodged at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale for two nights.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-299697 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Heritage-caravan-day-two-in-Kumasi-41.jpg\" alt=\"heritage-caravan-day-two-in-kumasi-41\" width=\"960\" height=\"639\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Activities for Day three begun in the Northern expedition. Through popular towns like Walewale, Savelugu, Bolgatanga and Navrongo, The Heritage Caravan made its first stop in Paga, in the Upper East region where new sign post was mounted by Citi FM for the Paga Crocodile pond.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-299975 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/heritage-caravan-2017-at-paga-10-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"heritage-caravan-2017-at-paga-10\" width=\"620\" height=\"930\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Participants visited the Paga Crocodile pond, a short tour and crossed over Ghana\/Burkina Faso border.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day four<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The second night of the #HeritageCaravan in Tamale, was spectacular.<\/p>\n<p>Two remarkable things happened:\u00a0The Chief Executive Officer of Citi FM, Samuel Atta-Mensah was enskinned as a sub-chief by the Chief of Tamale, Dakpema Naa Dawuni Alhassan, at a durbar of the chiefs and people of Tamale.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-300117 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Sammens-enskinned-11.jpg\" alt=\"sammens-enskinned-11\" width=\"641\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This was followed by a spectacular gesture from the Chief of Tamale, Naa Dakpema, the cultural night and mini durbar at the forecourt of his palace.<\/p>\n<p>The team was treated to good music, dance, food and rich Northern culture. The cultural night again was exciting like that of the first edition of the Heritage Caravan organised in 2016.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-300120 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Sammens-enskinned-14.jpg\" alt=\"sammens-enskinned-14\" width=\"960\" height=\"641\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The adventures in the north continued on day four in the Mole National Park.<\/p>\n<p>The Mole trip took the Heritage Caravan through Damongo to Larabanga, where participants saw and and were told about the famous Larabanga Mosque \u2013 one of Ghana\u2019s architectural masterpieces.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-300412 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Heritage-Caravan-2017-at-Mole-National-Park-31-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"heritage-caravan-2017-at-mole-national-park-31\" width=\"620\" height=\"413\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At Mole, patrons took an early morning safari, and were lucky to see Elephants, Crocodiles, Antelopes, Deer, Monkeys and some other animals.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-300407 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Heritage-Caravan-2017-at-Mole-National-Park-26-682x1024.jpg\" alt=\"heritage-caravan-2017-at-mole-national-park-26\" width=\"620\" height=\"931\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The team departed from the Northern region after lunch on day four and headed to the Brong Ahafo region via the Fulfulso-Sawla road, through Bole, Banda Nkwanta, across the Black Volta at Bamboi, drove through Wenchi, Chiraa and arrived in Sunyani, the capital of the Brong Ahafo region.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-300395 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Heritage-Caravan-2017-at-Mole-National-Park-14-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"heritage-caravan-2017-at-mole-national-park-14\" width=\"620\" height=\"413\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Patrons were hosted at the plush four star Eusbett Hotel.<\/p>\n<p>The night in Sunyani was another spectacular one. After the sumptuous buffet dinner the team had an array of activities to help them relax. While others were treated to a movie night, others had a pool party.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day five<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Day five the team made its longest journey ever, from Sunyani to the Western Region. Whiles at it the caravan stopped at the Assin Manso Slave River.<\/p>\n<p>We lodged at the luxurious Busua Beach Resort in Agona in the Western Region.<\/p>\n<p>On first night in the region, patrons were treated to a bonfire night amidst\u00a0story telling, and array of dance formations including the electric dance.<\/p>\n<p>While enjoying the natural scenery of the beach, with some live performances from, the African Soul artiste, Nene Narh, poet, Apiokor Ashong, Adepa, Fremah, reggae artist Hush Mular, and some story telling by Kojo Akoto Boateng, co-host of the Citi Breakfast Show, the fire kept them warm.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-300880 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/17191498_10154669770091107_2983549019980582194_n.jpg\" alt=\"17191498_10154669770091107_2983549019980582194_n\" width=\"631\" height=\"402\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The following day, still in the Western Region, the caravan took the team to the famous stilt village of Nzulenzu.<\/p>\n<p>That night patrons were treated to some good hi-life music by the Mighty Band.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The surprise for the night was the spectacular performance of Ghana\u2019s Rap Music Doctor, Okyeame Kwame.<\/p>\n<p>Climaxing activities for the night was the Masked party and the Barbecue, which run late into the night.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day six<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And on the sixth day the Caravan brought the team safely back to Accra from the Western region after makinga brief stop at the Elmina Castle in the Central Region.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Kojo Agyeman\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>Photos by: Nii Darku Otoo<\/p>\n<p>Videos by: Philip Kofi Ashon<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After six days of touring the country, the Citi FM Heritage Caravan has returned to Accra.
