{"id":300149,"date":"2017-03-08T15:30:31","date_gmt":"2017-03-08T15:30:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=300149"},"modified":"2017-03-08T15:30:31","modified_gmt":"2017-03-08T15:30:31","slug":"marwako-not-intimidating-witnesses-in-assault-case-lawyer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=300149","title":{"rendered":"Marwako not intimidating witnesses in assault case &#8211; Lawyer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lawyer for Jihad Chaaban, the Lebanese supervisor at the centre of the Marwako assault case, has denied claims that his client and the management of\u00a0Marwako\u00a0Fast foods, are\u00a0intimidating potential witnesses in the trial.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Chaaban was <strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/03\/08\/marwako-assault-court-remands-lebanese-supervisor\/\">remanded into police custody<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0on Wednesday by an Accra Magistrate Court and during proceedings, the prosecutor argued\u00a0that the accused and Marwako management were threatening to dismiss staff members who had been invited by the police to serve as witnesses in the case.<\/p>\n<p>But Mr. Chaaban\u2019s lawyer, Augustine Asafo Adjei, rubbished such claims as false, noting that the police has said it has already concluded investigations.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-300106 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/marwako-labenese-supervisor2.jpg\" alt=\"marwako-labenese-supervisor2\" width=\"600\" height=\"390\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Asafo Adjei also asserted that, during the court proceedings, the investigator looking into the case stated categorically that there was no external interference.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>&#8216; Fred Djabanor, he said: \u201cSo the issue is, if that is even true, which people are they going to parade as witnesses before the court? Who was there to come and testify? The police have said they have investigated that matter. What the police have said is that they have completed investigations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat assertion by the police is false.
