{"id":300010,"date":"2017-03-08T06:00:45","date_gmt":"2017-03-08T06:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=300010"},"modified":"2017-03-08T06:00:45","modified_gmt":"2017-03-08T06:00:45","slug":"govt-to-lay-bill-on-abolished-taxes-before-parliament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=300010","title":{"rendered":"Gov&#8217;t to lay Bill on abolished taxes before Parliament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Government will soon lay before Parliament, the necessary instruments that would give legal backing to the scrapping and review of some taxes, the Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has revealed.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Suame MP, the revisiew or abolition of over ten taxes in the 2017 budget, will only take effect after approval from Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the media on Tuesday, he said it was imperative Parliament approved the taxes before the budget is even approved.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_291665\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-291665\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-291665\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Osei-Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu-4.jpg\" alt=\"Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-291665\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;The budget is a very business-like matter before us and we\u2019ll have to apply critical thinking and analysis to it. Once we are through with it, we also may need to deal with a lot of money Bills because the Finance Minister related to a lot of taxes; some of them to abolished, some to be reconfigured and so on and so forth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These money bills, we may have to approve off before the appropiriation bill is concluded because they will have a direct impact on the budget, the outturns and the outcomes of the budget,&#8221; the Majority Leader explained further.<\/p>\n<p>Anytime from today [Wednesday], Mr.\u00a0Mensah Bonsu added, the money bills will start coming to Parliament for the relevant referrals to be made.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RTI Bill likely to come before House in May<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u00a0Mensah-Bonsu also stated that, the Right to Information Bill, is likely to be re-laid before Parliament for the process of approval when the second meeting of the house begins in May.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause of the considerations that went into it, I guess the new government would have to factor in those considerations before being re-laid in this new parliament.
