{"id":299546,"date":"2017-03-07T06:00:29","date_gmt":"2017-03-07T06:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=299546"},"modified":"2017-03-07T06:00:29","modified_gmt":"2017-03-07T06:00:29","slug":"ghanaat60-peduase-valley-resort-hosts-kente-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=299546","title":{"rendered":"#GhanaAt60: Peduase Valley resort hosts Kente exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An exhibition of some of Ghana\u2019s finest and oldest Kente fabrics has been held at the Peduase Valley Resort at Aburi in the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n<p>The fabrics are a collection by Amadu Baba, a Ghanaian artifact collector who has been gathering the materials over the past four decades.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?attachment_id=299538\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-299538\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-299538\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Ghana-At-60-Kente-festival-14.jpeg\" alt=\"ghana-at-60-kente-festival-14\" width=\"1216\" height=\"684\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Most of the Kente cloths exhibited were over a 100 years old, some of which had been used by famous traditional leaders of the Volta and Ashanti regions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?attachment_id=299526\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-299526\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-299526\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Ghana-At-60-Kente-festival-1.jpeg\" alt=\"ghana-at-60-kente-festival-1\" width=\"1216\" height=\"684\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The event, dubbed, \u201cweaved with love and pride\u201d was held on Saturday, 4<sup>th<\/sup> March 2017, as part of series of Ghana at 60-related events organized by the resort.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?attachment_id=299528\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-299528\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-299528\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Ghana-At-60-Kente-festival-3.jpeg\" alt=\"ghana-at-60-kente-festival-3\" width=\"1216\" height=\"684\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Roots Hospitality International, managers of the hotel said the theme of the celebration \u201cWeaved with pride &amp; love\u201d was aimed at celebrating the Ghanaian culture by \u201ccreating a nostalgic atmosphere to embrace the country\u2019s heritage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?attachment_id=299527\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-299527\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-299527\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Ghana-At-60-Kente-festival-2.jpeg\" alt=\"ghana-at-60-kente-festival-2\" width=\"1216\" height=\"684\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Managing director of Peduase Valley resort, Hussein Fakhry, in his address said Ghana must identify key elements of its culture including the Kente and capitalize on them to promote the Ghana brand.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_299529\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-299529\" style=\"width: 1216px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?attachment_id=299529\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-299529\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-299529\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Ghana-At-60-Kente-festival-4.jpeg\" alt=\"MD, Peduase Valley Resort; Mr Hussein Fakhry\" width=\"1216\" height=\"684\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-299529\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MD, Peduase Valley Resort; Mr Hussein Fakhry<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cToday, branding Ghana should be the mission and vision of every one of us, of every entrepreneur, businessman, parent, teacher, doctor, artiste and farmer.
