{"id":299427,"date":"2017-03-07T06:00:37","date_gmt":"2017-03-07T06:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=299427"},"modified":"2017-03-07T06:00:37","modified_gmt":"2017-03-07T06:00:37","slug":"marwako-assault-i-tried-to-get-victim-help-lebanese-supervisor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=299427","title":{"rendered":"Marwako assault: I tried to get victim help &#8211; Lebanese supervisor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lebanese supervisor at the centre of the assault case at the Abelemkpe branch of\u00a0Marwako\u00a0Fast Foods in Accra, is disputing claims he locked up the victim, a female employee, after he forced her face in blended pepper.<\/p>\n<p>Initial reports indicated that, the supervisor, Jihad Chaaban, locked up the victim to prevent her from getting some treatment for her burning eyes.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;mesykexx2UbyOQdu3qIx2kX5gXc19pbG&#8221;]But Mr. Chaaban, who has since been suspended by Marwako Management, insists he tried to get her some medical treatment after his bout of anger.<\/p>\n<p>In an <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/03\/06\/lebanese-supervisor-apologizes-for-assaulting-ghanaian-worker\/\">apology letter <\/a><\/strong><\/span>addressed to the victim, he said \u201cI was deeply worried when I didn\u2019t find you minutes after the incident but a bit relieved when I traced you immediately to the dressing room and got my colleague supervisor to rush you to the pharmacy which unfortunately had closed at that time of the\u00a0night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Explaining circumstances that led to the incident, Mr. Chaaban said all\u00a0that he sought to do was to point out something \u201cI found wrong\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He further explained that, the whole issue was an accident saying, \u201cI admit I was angry a bit at that moment and saw you panic and accidentally resulting in the pepper splashing onto your face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said he was \u201cagain not happy at that news because it was only a little after\u00a09pm, but assured of some relief for you when you found alternative first aid in shea\u00a0butter,\u00a0and left for home shortly after and ahead of the official\u00a011 pm\u00a0closing time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marwako&#8217;s management\u00a0condemned the incident saying it did not condone the actions of the suspended supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Chaaban was arrested and interrogated by police, but is currently on bail pending further investigations.<\/p>\n<p>Evelyn Boakye is said to have received the apology letter, but insists that she wants nothing but justice as a statement against employers who maltreat their workers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lebanese supervisor at the centre of the assault case at the Abelemkpe branch of\u00a0Marwako\u00a0Fast Foods in Accra, is disputing claims he locked up the victim, a female employee, after he forced her face in blended pepper.
