{"id":297894,"date":"2017-02-28T15:31:02","date_gmt":"2017-02-28T15:31:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=297894"},"modified":"2017-02-28T15:31:02","modified_gmt":"2017-02-28T15:31:02","slug":"well-overcome-scholarship-payment-challenges-soon-getfund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=297894","title":{"rendered":"We&#8217;ll overcome scholarship payment challenges soon &#8211; GETFund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The management of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), has admitted that there have been challenges in the payment of stipends to scholarship beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>GETFund in a statement however assured that it is committed to its obligations towards students who are studying abroad on government sponsorship.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;PtVHs1lFo5i0ZxrOlY1GjNKJcOm4cAsz&#8221;]Some Ghanaian students studying in the United Kingdom on GETFund scholarship, recently\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/02\/26\/getfund-students-in-uk-threaten-demo-over-unpaid-fees\/\">threatened<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to embark on a demonstration in London over their unpaid stipends.<\/p>\n<p>The affected students said they had not received\u00a0their stipends since September 2016, and thus served notice of a demonstration on Friday, March 3, 2017 in front of the BBC Broadcasting house in London.<\/p>\n<p>The GETFund, according to its\u00a0statement, is aware of the arrears and has \u201csince the beginning of the year [2017] been corresponding with some of the schools and students as to our arrangements to settle our obligations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fund attributed the problems to transition challenges which it assured are being addressed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe GETFund has been confronted with some challenges recently but these are being resolved.
