{"id":297609,"date":"2017-02-27T14:32:54","date_gmt":"2017-02-27T14:32:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=297609"},"modified":"2017-02-27T14:32:54","modified_gmt":"2017-02-27T14:32:54","slug":"atta-mills-tomb-in-dire-state-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=297609","title":{"rendered":"Atta Mills\u2019 tomb in dire state [Photos]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The tomb of late President Professor John Evans Atta Mills, is in a bad state, five years after he was buried at the Asomdwe Park in Accra.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-297618 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/atta-mills-tomb-6.jpg\" alt=\"atta-mills-tomb-6\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A visit to the Park by <strong>Citi News<\/strong> revealed that the well-crafted metallic cover of the tomb, has developed grim cracks detaching itself from the rest of the artefact.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-297617 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/atta-mills-tomb-5.jpg\" alt=\"atta-mills-tomb-5\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Portions of the tomb are also falling apart, and managers of the park have had to support it with blocks.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, management of the park, declined to speak to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> about the development when contacted.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-297615 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/atta-mills-tomb-3.jpg\" alt=\"atta-mills-tomb-3\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President Mills died at the 37 Military Hospital on July 24, 2012, and was buried in August that year.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-297614 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/atta-mills-tomb-2.jpg\" alt=\"atta-mills-tomb-2\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A park close to the Osu Castle was subsequently prepared to serve as the burial ground for the late president.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-297612 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/atta-mills-tomb-10.jpg\" alt=\"atta-mills-tomb-10\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The facility, which had geese and fish pond, ostriches, guinea fowls among other beautiful scenic attractions, also served as a recreational centre.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-297613 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/atta-mills-tomb-1.jpg\" alt=\"atta-mills-tomb-1\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Seidu Anass\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The tomb of late President Professor John Evans Atta Mills, is in a bad state, five years after he was buried at the Asomdwe Park in Accra.
