{"id":297219,"date":"2017-02-25T17:41:54","date_gmt":"2017-02-25T17:41:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=297219"},"modified":"2017-02-25T17:41:54","modified_gmt":"2017-02-25T17:41:54","slug":"pl-roundup-chelsea-go-11-points-clear-everton-see-off-sunderland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=297219","title":{"rendered":"PL Roundup: Chelsea go 11 points clear, Everton see off Sunderland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Chelsea 3-1 Swansea City<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cesc Fabregas\u00a0marked his 300th Premier <span class=\"vm-hook-outer vm-hook-default\"><span class=\"vm-hook\">League<\/span><\/span> appearance with a goal as Chelsea beat Swansea at Stamford Bridge to move 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>Fabregas opened the scoring on 19\u00a0minutes, collecting a pass from Pedro in the visitors\u2019 box and poking the ball past Lukasz Fabianski.<\/p>\n<p>Swansea drew level on the stroke of half-time against the run of play when Fernando Llorente, who was linked with a January move to Stamford Bridge, escaped the attentions of David Luiz from a Gylfi Sigurdsson free-kick and powered a header past Thibaut Courtois.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Fabragas-cele.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-297222\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Fabragas-cele.jpg\" alt=\"fabragas-cele\" width=\"574\" height=\"369\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fabregas came close to restoring Chelsea&#8217;s lead shortly after the break when he thundered a shot against the bar.<\/p>\n<p>Swansea thought they should have had a penalty on 68 minutes when Cesar Azpilicueta appeared to handle in the Chelsea box under\u00a0pressure from Gylfi Sigurdsson.<\/p>\n<p>But referee Neil Swarbrick waved away the protests and their Swansea&#8217;s frustrations grew a minute later as Chelsea restored their lead when Fabianski\u00a0failed to keep out Pedro\u2019s curling shot.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea wrapped up the victory &#8211; their 12th in succession at\u00a0home &#8211; four minutes from time when Diego Costa volleyed home from close range.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Everton 2-0 Sunderland<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Idrissa Gana Gueye&#8217;s first Premier <span class=\"vm-hook-outer vm-hook-default\"><span class=\"vm-hook\">League<\/span><\/span> goal plus a record-equalling effort from Romelu Lukaku boosted Everton&#8217;s <span class=\"vm-hook-outer vm-hook-default\"><span class=\"vm-hook\">European<\/span><\/span> hopes while adding to Sunderland&#8217;s relegation woes.<\/p>\n<p>Gueye was among the unlikeliest to open the scoring, having failed to do so in 55 previous league appearances, but his fierce drive just before half-time was one worth waiting for.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Gueye.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-297223\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Gueye.jpg\" alt=\"gueye\" width=\"480\" height=\"319\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lukaku&#8217;s goal, all his own work with a 50-yard sprint from the halfway line, equalled Duncan Ferguson&#8217;s club-best tally of 60 in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>The 2-0 victory put Ronald Koeman&#8217;s side within six points of the top four, although Europa League qualification remains their primary target.<\/p>\n<p>Defeat &#8211;
