{"id":292751,"date":"2017-02-10T12:48:38","date_gmt":"2017-02-10T12:48:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=292751"},"modified":"2017-02-10T12:48:38","modified_gmt":"2017-02-10T12:48:38","slug":"bimbilla-shootings-death-toll-now-10-11-wounded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=292751","title":{"rendered":"Bimbilla shootings: Death toll now 10; 11 wounded"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eight more people have been reported dead in the Northern Region town of Bimbilla bringing the death toll from Thursday&#8217;s shoot-out to 10.<\/p>\n<p>Police also confirmed that there are 11 persons wounded, while 17 others are in\u00a0police custody as investigations into the clashes continue. \u00a0This comes after the Minister of Defense and MP for Bimbila, Dominic Nitiwul, said the situation was <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/02\/10\/well-deal-with-bimbilla-conflict-once-and-for-all-nitiwul\/\">under control<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;uRBsrMVIGRk9xZIPh6ECf3Wtp5A6zRm2&#8243;]An attempted enskinment of a sub-chief in the towns by the regent in the town despite warnings from police, sparked the violent clashes between two factions, leading to the military and police moving in to take control of the situation.<\/p>\n<p>The interior Ministry has since\u00a0reviewed the protracted curfew on the Bimbilla Township from 4:00 pm to 6:00am with immediate effect, following the\u00a0shootings.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, the District Crime officer for Bimbilla, ASP Ebenezer Peprah, confirmed that, \u201cso far there have been 10 dead bodies recovered, 17 arrested, and then 11 wounded. We even have reinforcements from Tamale, and they have spoken to the regent and the elders.
