Ecobank Transnational incorporated (ETI) recorded the most impressive performance on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) in the month of June.<\/p>\n
The bourse in all returned about 5 percent for financial stocks.<\/p>\n
The total market capitalization increased to 62.8 billion cedis from May, 2014 to 62.5 billion cedis in June this year.<\/p>\n
6 out of 10 companies that recorded gains were financial stocks, while four out of the ten decliners were manufacturing companies.<\/p>\n
Ecobank Transnational incorporated in the month of June topped the list of 10 gainers recorded on the Ghana Stock Exchange.<\/p>\n
ETI increased by 18 percent from 22 pesewas to 26 pesewas.<\/p>\n
Its Chief Executive officer, Albert Essien had earlier told Citi Business news this was going to happen.<\/p>\n
\u2018As we build confidence and trust, extract efficiencies, fix governance issues and bring stability definitely that will reflect on the ETI stock.\u2019 he said<\/p>\n
UT bank came second after recovering from some fall in the past two months.<\/p>\n
A 5 pesewas increase in its shares accounted for a 14% capital gain.<\/p>\n
It began the month of June at 35pewsas and ended at 40 pesewas.<\/p>\n
The Oil Palm firm, Benso Oil Palm Plantation, was the third biggest gainer having recorded an increase of about 13percent.<\/p>\n
It increased by 29 pesewas to close the month at 2 cedis 59 pesewas.<\/p>\n
The other gainers in June were Ghana Commercial bank which increased by 8 percent after increasing by 4pesewas.<\/p>\n
HFC bank and Ecobank Ghana went up by 7 percent.<\/p>\n
The rest of the gainers were GOIL, Mechanical Lloyd, Total Petroleum and Standard Chartered Bank.<\/p>\n
The stock that declined the most in the month of June was Societe General Ghana which dropped by 10percent.<\/p>\n
It shed 9 pesewas off the 92 pesewas it started the month with.<\/p>\n
Societe General Ghana was closely followed by Guinness Ghana brewery which declined by 51 pesewas representing 9 percent.<\/p>\n
Camelot was the third worst decliner though it shed just a pesewa in June.<\/p>\n
It declined by about 6 percent.<\/p>\n
The other decliners were the Trust Bank of Gambia which also dropped by a pesewa from 25 to 24 pesewas measuring 4percent.<\/p>\n
PZ Cussons, CAL bank, Enterprise group and Fanmilk all declined by 3percent.<\/p>\n
Sixteen companies however did not record any changes.<\/p>\n
Amongst them were Anglogold Ashanti, Aluworks, Aryton drugs, Clydestone, Cocoa processing company and SIC.<\/p>\n
