{"id":287991,"date":"2017-01-25T11:00:03","date_gmt":"2017-01-25T11:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=287991"},"modified":"2017-01-25T11:00:03","modified_gmt":"2017-01-25T11:00:03","slug":"focos-hospital-empowers-ghanaian-journalists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=287991","title":{"rendered":"FOCOS hospital empowers Ghanaian journalists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital opened up to 15 Ghanaian journalists last week to empower them on Orthopaedic healthcare delivery in sub-saharan Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Officially opened in 2012, FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital currently has a capacity of 50 beds, which can be expanded in future.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital, described as one of very few state-of-the-art, full service specialty hospitals in all of Africa, is equipped with two operating theatres, an outpatient clinic, laboratory, physiotherapy centre, radiology centre and patient wards.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-287996 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/focos-hospital-2.jpg\" alt=\"focos-hospital-2\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It has facilities such as a state-of-the-art Surgical Theatre, Radiology, Laboratory, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy departments<\/p>\n<p>Founder and CEO of FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital, Prof Oheneba Boachie-Adjei said \u201cOrthopaedic surgery which involves operation on the musculoskeletal system, costs about $10,000 in Ghana compared to about $100,000 and though health insurance did not cover Orthopaedic healthcare delivery it was his wish that the government would pay at least 10% for Ghanaians in future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was worried about the lack of advocacy for Orthopaedic healthcare in Ghana considering it being the fourth cause of death and disability in the world according to the WHO.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Credit: FOCOS Orthopaedic hospital<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital opened up to 15 Ghanaian journalists last week to empower them on Orthopaedic healthcare delivery in sub-saharan Africa.
