Gloria Akuffo has been nominated as the Attorney General by President Nana Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n
President Akufo-Addo, a former Attorney General himself, lauded Gloria Akuffo as having served him \u201cfaithfully\u201d in the two years he was the Attorney General.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”xs83W4SYvfU1RrlljANnK0G5gmuRj5C7″]He also said she had \u201ca very strong ethical approach to issues of law and social responsibility and I think these are qualities that an Attorney General should have and I believe strongly that she is going to make a very fine Attorney General for Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gloria Akuffo, born on December 31, 1954, graduated in 1979 from the University of Ghana with a B.A. (Hons) in Law and Political Science.<\/p>\n
She became a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana and later enrolled at the Ghana Bar Association in 1982.<\/p>\n
From 2001 to 2005 Gloria Akuffo was the Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Attorney General, the first woman to hold this position.<\/p>\n
In 2005, she was appointed the Deputy Minister of the\u00a0Greater Accra Region and later the Minister of Aviation in 2008.<\/p>\n
She was most notably part of the lead counsel for the New Patriotic Party Flagbearer in the 2012 Election Petition case before the Supreme Court in 2013.<\/p>\n
Gloria Akuffo’s nomination came along with the announcement of 12 other nominees\u00a0by President Akufo-Addo at the Flagstaff House today [Tuesday].<\/p>\n
