{"id":283525,"date":"2017-01-10T16:14:47","date_gmt":"2017-01-10T16:14:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=283525"},"modified":"2017-01-10T16:14:47","modified_gmt":"2017-01-10T16:14:47","slug":"ken-ofori-atta-named-finance-minister-designate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=283525","title":{"rendered":"Ken Ofori-Atta named Finance Minister designate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has named renowned investment banker, Ken Ofori-Atta, as his Finance Minister, pending parliamentary approval.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Ofori-Atta, a cousin to the President, stepped down as head of Databank, to serve as the Director in-charge of fundraising for the New Patriotic Party\u2019s (NPP) 2016 presidential campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Making the announcement of 13 people as the first batch of his ministerial appointments at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday, Nana Akufo-Addo said Mr. Ofori-Atta has the capacity to lead the finance sector that will ensure the transformation of the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_283528\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-283528\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-283528\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/71b36d9b-7ff8-4491-8ef2-7333360b1558.jpg\" alt=\"Ken Ofori-Atta and Nana Addo\" width=\"600\" height=\"379\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-283528\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ken Ofori-Atta and Nana Addo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>About Ken Ofori-Atta<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Ofori-Atta, co-founder of Databank was born in 1959 at Kyebi in the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n<p>Ken had his education at Achimota School, and proceeded to have a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Columbia University (1984) and an MBA from the Yale University School of Management in 1988.<\/p>\n<p>Ken founded Databank with Daniel Ofori-Atta, Keli Gadzekpo and Torgbui Afede in 1990. Ken serves as a director for numerous companies and member and some boards too.<\/p>\n<p>He is a Director for Enterprise Group Ltd and Trust Bank Ltd of The Gambia of which he is Chairman. He is a Director at the International Bank of Liberia and is also a Board Member of the Acumen Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Ken is a fellow of the Aspen Institute, and was adjudged as the 2nd most respected C.E.O in Ghana.
