{"id":282184,"date":"2017-01-06T06:31:12","date_gmt":"2017-01-06T06:31:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=282184"},"modified":"2017-01-06T06:31:12","modified_gmt":"2017-01-06T06:31:12","slug":"ces-2017-razer-gaming-laptop-has-not-one-but-three-screens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=282184","title":{"rendered":"CES 2017: Razer gaming laptop has not one but three screens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">Gaming PC maker Razer has unveiled a concept laptop with three 4K screens at the CES tech show in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>The firm claims Project Valerie is the world&#8217;s first portable laptop of its kind.<\/p>\n<p>Two additional screens slide out from the central display via an automatic mechanism.<\/p>\n<p>One analyst praised the design, noting that gamers were increasingly splashing out on high-end laptops.<\/p>\n<p>All three screens are 17in (43cm) in size.<\/p>\n<p>When folded up and closed, the laptop is 1.5in thick. Razer said this was comparable to many standard gaming laptops, which tend to be chunkier than home and office devices.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We thought, &#8216;This is crazy, can we do this?&#8217;,&#8221; a company spokesman told the BBC.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The answer was: &#8216;Yeah, we are crazy enough, we can do it&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Project Valerie is still a prototype and Razer has not yet published a possible release date or price.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media-landscape has-caption full-width\"><span class=\"image-and-copyright-container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image__img js-image-replace\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef-1.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/cpsprodpb\/D1F4\/production\/_93284735_razer-2.jpg\" alt=\"Additional screen hinges\" width=\"976\" height=\"549\" data-highest-encountered-width=\"624\" \/><span class=\"off-screen\">Image copyright<\/span><span class=\"story-image-copyright\">RAZER<\/span><\/span><figcaption class=\"media-caption\"><span class=\"media-caption__text\">Project Valerie has special hinges that automatically deploy its two additional screens<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Gamers commonly used more than one monitor these days, said gaming analyst Jonathan Wagstaff at Context.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Although it is unusual, it doesn&#8217;t surprise me,&#8221; he told the BBC.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is something people will buy &#8211; I think it will sell.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added that increasing numbers of gamers &#8211; particularly those who travel to e-sports tournaments &#8211; are in the market for portable computers with high specs.<\/p>\n<p>But Mr Wagstaff added that industry data he had reviewed suggested widening interest in such machines from architectural and graphic design firms, as well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That is interesting, that is traditionally the territory of Apple&#8217;s products,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Project Valerie was just one of several gaming laptops shown off at CES.<\/p>\n<p>Computer maker Acer unveiled a large, 21in model called the Predator 21X, which costs $8,999 (\u00a37,250).<\/p>\n<p>Consumer electronics giant Samsung also launched its first gaming laptop &#8211; called Samsung Notebook Odyssey &#8211; in 17in and 15in models.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Source: BBC<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gaming PC maker Razer has unveiled a concept laptop with three 4K screens at the CES tech show in Las Vegas.
