Staff at the Accounts Department of the Hospital sat idle, redundant for the three day period that the exercise had travelled.<\/p>\n

There was paperwork, but for the third day running, philanthropist and renowned Breast surgeon and consultant, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai, had rendered them \u201cpartially redundant,\u201d and deliberately so.<\/p>\n

Premises of the Peace and Love Hospital at Oduom, Kumasi, was bursting at the seams with hundreds of patients.<\/p>\n

A beaming Dr. Wiafe \u00a0explained to newsmen\u201d this is our own special version of corporate social responsibility fused with our specially packaged Christmas and new year gifts for our women in particular, and the public in general.\u201d<\/p>\n

The seven day exercise, she explained, was programmed to afford the public the opportunity to benefit from yet another full package of free health screenings by Breast Care International, Africa\u2019s lead, anti- breast cancer campaigner.<\/p>\n

The exercise, a collaboration between Peace and Love Hospitals and BCI, commenced on January 2, and is scheduled to end on inauguration day, January 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe week long exercise is all encompassing\u201d, continued Dr. Wiafe. \u201cWe are giving our patrons and the public a clean bill of health, free of charge.\u201d<\/p>\n

The hundreds of happy looking patients, who thronged the hospital and drawn from every corner of the country enjoyed free breast, eye, diabetic, hypertension, mammography, scan and consultancy services,\u201d by the medical team, which made sure every patient returned home treated and happy.<\/p>\n

Patrons who could not believe their luck praised the Hospital and BCI for reaching out to the needy at \u201cthis critical time of the year when parents had little to spend after the festive season while students prepared to return to campuses, with school fees beckoning\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cMay God bless Peace and Love Hospitals and BCI, the two collaborating health institutions which have brought smiles to our faces\u201d, prayed a sixty year old mother of two, whose two sons and herself had benefitted from various free screenings.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis couldn\u2019t have come at a better time\u201d, an Oldman intoned. \u201cit\u2019s an immeasurable and major relief\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

Pressed for the cost component of the week long program, Dr. Wiafe, President of BCI, and CEO of Peace and Love Hospitals, pointed newsmen in the direction of the Accounts Department, which Department promptly, but briefly, came alive as the Accountant\u00a0 got into the works, asking his staff to \u201cquickly tally the figures for the pressmen\u201d.<\/p>\n
