Then a commenter asked him: Aren\u2019t you an atheist?<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fzuck%2Fposts%2F10103363940448171&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"230\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Zuckerberg identified himself as an atheist for years, but on Facebook on Christmas he wrote back: \u201cNo. I was raised Jewish and then I went through a period where I questioned things, but now I believe religion is very important.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He didn\u2019t answer further questions about what he does believe in.<\/p>\n<p>Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have publicly discussed their moral values frequently \u2014 including in a lengthy letter when their daughter was born a year ago, in which they pledged to donate 99 percent of their Facebook stock, which at about $45 billion at the time was one of the largest philanthropic commitments ever.<\/p>\n<p>And they\u2019ve already met one of the world\u2019s most important religious figures: Pope Francis, with whom they discussed bringing communication technology to the world\u2019s poor.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Source: Washingtonpost.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The founder of Facebook has found religion, it seems, according to a cheery holiday message he posted on the social network he created.
