{"id":280684,"date":"2016-12-30T08:31:09","date_gmt":"2016-12-30T08:31:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=280684"},"modified":"2016-12-30T08:31:09","modified_gmt":"2016-12-30T08:31:09","slug":"ndc-members-weep-for-defeated-mahama-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=280684","title":{"rendered":"NDC members weep for defeated Mahama [Photos]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some die-hard members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), at Somanya in the Eastern Region, wept on Thursday over the defeat of President John Mahama in the December 7 polls.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-280694 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/people-weep-for-mahama-4.jpg\" alt=\"people-weep-for-mahama-4\" width=\"640\" height=\"457\" \/><\/p>\n<p>President Mahama&#8217;s second term bid was truncated by the New Patriotic Party&#8217;s Nana Akufo-Addo who will be sworn into office on January 7, 2017.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-280696 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/people-weep-for-mahama-6.jpg\" alt=\"people-weep-for-mahama-6\" width=\"640\" height=\"457\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The President was in the area to the cut sod for the construction of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development also called the Eastern University.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-280693 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/people-weep-for-mahama-3.jpg\" alt=\"people-weep-for-mahama-3\" width=\"640\" height=\"458\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Eastern University, which was one of President Mahama\u2019s key promises to the people of the region during the 2012 electioneering period, will be cited at Somanya with a satellite Campus at Donkorkrom, all in the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n<p>The University will provide higher education in developments and environment that will lead to the award of honorary Degrees, Diploma and certificates.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-280688 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/people-weep-for-mahama-15.jpg\" alt=\"people-weep-for-mahama-15\" width=\"640\" height=\"457\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While speaking at the sod cutting ceremony, President Mahama called on the incoming New Patriotic Party administration to see to the completion of the project.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-280692 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/people-weep-for-mahama-2.jpg\" alt=\"people-weep-for-mahama-2\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The building of a campus for the University of Environment and Sustainable Development which is popularly called the Eastern University, I believe is a milestone worth celebrating. The chiefs can also be assured that funding for the Eastern University has been secured and has been approved by Parliament.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-280701 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/people-weep-for-mahama-11.jpg\" alt=\"people-weep-for-mahama-11\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I urge them (NPP) to continue to support the new government to ensure the full realization of the vision to provide the Eastern Region with a public university.
