{"id":275971,"date":"2016-12-11T09:38:37","date_gmt":"2016-12-11T09:38:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=275971"},"modified":"2016-12-11T09:38:37","modified_gmt":"2016-12-11T09:38:37","slug":"ghanaians-express-outrage-over-cnns-election-reportage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=275971","title":{"rendered":"Ghanaians express outrage over CNN&#8217;s election reportage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The internet community in Ghana has taken to social media to condemn and criticize an election story written by the American television network, Cable News Network (CNN) that suggests that Ghanaians struggle to purchase food and usually queue for basic services.<br \/>\nThe CNN in the article, titled &#8216;Ghana election: Incumbent concedes to Nana Akufo-Addo&#8217; said ;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The national economy will be Akufo-Addo&#8217;s major challenge.Oil reserves were discovered off the coast of Ghana in 2007, but Ghanians struggle to obtain food and day-to-day services. Rolling blackouts are common and citizens often stand in long line to obtain products.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The assertion has angered many Ghanaians online who have accused the TV network of twisting the facts to project the country in negative light.<\/p>\n<p>Jemila Wunpuni Abdulai, a blogger challenged CNN&#8217;s publication and called for a relook at the facts on the ground.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fjabdulai%2Fposts%2F10100319431688235&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"722\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Ghanaian sports journalist, Gary Al-Smith also described the article as a &#8220;lazy reportage&#8221; about Ghana&#8217;s election.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">My Ghana people.
