The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has disclosed that figures available to it suggest it has won the majority of seats in Parliament.<\/p>\n

Addressing the press on Thursday, the National Youth Organizer of the NPP, Sammy Awuku said they have won about 149 seats.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom declared results from the constituency level alone, we can provisionally say that the NPP has won a clear parliamentary majority with a minimum of 149 seats, no machinations can change this,\u201d Mr. Awuku added.<\/p>\n

Sammy Awuku also expressed anger over the delay by the commission in announcing the results of Wednesday’s polls.<\/p>\n

He explained that \u201cthis is the first time in 16 years in our democratic dispensation that election results have unduly delayed in this manner.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Parliament\"<\/p>\n

He added that such actions create \u201csuspicion [and] it creates unnecessary tension across the country adding that Ghanainas \u201cdeserve an explanation from the commission.\u201d<\/p>\n

Concede defeat<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NPP had earlier urged president John Mahama to\u00a0concede defeat because figures they have suggest that he has lost.<\/p>\n

According to the NPP, figures of about 80 percent of the over 28,000 polling stations they have collated show that Akufo-Addo polled 54.91%.<\/p>\n

But both the NDC and the EC condemned the declaration.<\/p>\n
