Supporters on the two leading parties in this year’s elections, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) reportedly clashed at Deme, a border community in Dzodze in the Ketu North constituency.<\/p>\n

According to Citi News<\/strong>‘ correspondent, the supporters of the opposition party were “lurking in the bush to prevent people they perceived to be Togolese” from crossing the border to vote in the elections.<\/p>\n

“The NDC upon hearing the information led by their constituency chairman moved to the\u00a0area to confront them,” the correspondent reported.<\/p>\n

This led to a confrontation\u00a0between the two groups and it is as yet unclear how many people were injured in the scuffles.<\/p>\n

It was also reported that the police have arrived at the scene but initially had issues controlling the crowd.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0man was brutalised by suspected\u00a0sympathisers\u00a0of the NDC who thought he was one of the people stopping voters.<\/p>\n

He was eventually bundled into the police pickup and driven away and appeared to resist the police in a video of the incident.<\/p>\n
