{"id":272338,"date":"2016-11-28T12:30:32","date_gmt":"2016-11-28T12:30:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=272338"},"modified":"2016-11-28T12:30:32","modified_gmt":"2016-11-28T12:30:32","slug":"ghanaian-elders-warn-against-abusive-language-in-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=272338","title":{"rendered":"Ghanaian elders warn against abusive language in media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Forum of Ghanaian Elders (TGFE), have raised concerns about the increasing use of abusive language within Ghana\u2019s media space.<\/p>\n<p>The Forum said it has become important to check the language used on the various media platforms, especially as the country heads to the polls in December.<\/p>\n<p>TFGE at a media briefing in Accra on Friday, said all speeches and addresses by politicians ahead of the elections, must be devoid of \u201ccareless talk\u201d that have the potential of causing chaos in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the press conference, General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Most Rev. Aboagye Mensah, called on journalists not to allow their platforms to be used to promote intemperate\u00a0 language.<\/p>\n<p>He reminded journalists that allowing politicians to make unguided statements, could result\u00a0in civil unrest and chaos that would affect lives and property in the country.<\/p>\n<p>He said it was commendable that the various ethnic groups in the country had a sound relationship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe relationship between Christians and Muslims in Ghana, is one of the best anywhere in the world.\u201d\u00a0\u2013 he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring my time as the general secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, a team of Nigerians visited us to learn from us concerning the peaceful co-existence between Christians and Muslims in the country&#8221; he disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>The press conference, which was under the theme, \u201cThe Magic of The Spoken Work; Careless Talk Cost Lives\u201d had in attendance a former Minister of State, Mr. Badu Nkansah, Veteran Broadcaster Joe Lartey and Most Rev.
