{"id":271814,"date":"2016-11-26T08:07:05","date_gmt":"2016-11-26T08:07:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=271814"},"modified":"2016-11-26T08:07:05","modified_gmt":"2016-11-26T08:07:05","slug":"ayalolo-buses-wont-sideline-trotro-drivers-mahama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=271814","title":{"rendered":"Ayalolo buses won&#8217;t sideline trotro drivers &#8211; Mahama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The inauguration of the Ayalolo Transport System will not sideline the operations of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, President Mahama said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;The system will rather supplement your efforts and provide time-bound transport services to commuters in the capital.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-271876 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ayalolo-buses-3.jpg\" alt=\"ayalolo-buses-3\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>President John Dramani Mahama said this when he gave the go-ahead for the commencement of the Bus Rapid Transport System in selected areas of the Greater Accra Region.<\/p>\n<p>The 245 buses would be commuting between Accra-Amasaman, Accra-Adentan and Accra-Kasoa.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-271874 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ayalolo-buses-1.jpg\" alt=\"ayalolo-buses-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The buses are fully air-conditioned and fitted with USB charging systems, television sets, internet connectivity and controlled externally by a central control system in BRT offices.<\/p>\n<p>The buses would also move at exact times that would be publicly communicated later.<\/p>\n<p>President Mahama said the transport system, which would be operated in Accra on pilot basis, would be replicated in all regional capitals.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-271874 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ayalolo-buses-1.jpg\" alt=\"ayalolo-buses-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He appealed to the drivers and management to handle the buses cautiously so as to achieve the purpose for which they were brought.<\/p>\n<p>The BRT system was initiated in 2011 when President Mahama, then the Vice President, broke the grounds for the building of the terminals at Adabraka in Accra Central.<\/p>\n<p>The idea was mooted when he visited Sweden to see how it was operated and to provide a similar rapid transport system in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<br \/>\nSource: GNA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The inauguration of the Ayalolo Transport System will not sideline the operations of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, President Mahama said on Friday.
