President John Mahama has assured the Chiefs and people of the Volta Region that his government will under no circumstance\u00a0take the development of the region for granted.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can never, ever be taken for granted and I will never take you for granted,\u201d he promised.<\/p>\n
This follows the threats by the chiefs to demonstrate on Wednesday in Ho if they do not see visible signs of government\u2019s commitment to address their development needs.<\/p>\n
The Chiefs made this known to President Mahama when he paid an inspection tour of the Adidome Road yesterday.<\/p>\n
Addressing the Chiefs and people of the Asogli Traditional Area, the President said\u00a0there are a lot of projects scheduled to take place in the region and his government will \u201ckeep the communication going so that the people will know what our intentions towards them are.\u201d<\/p>\n
He revealed plans by government to provide a floating bridge on the Volta Lake.<\/p>\n
This is aimed at easing the congestion at the Senchi Ferry sight following the closure of the Adomi Bridge.<\/p>\n
According to the President, this is part of measures to help ease the frustration of commuters.<\/p>\n
Following the closure of the Adomi Bridge and the opening up of the Senchi Ferry sight, there have been unending complaints regarding the inconvenience suffered by commuters.<\/p>\n
Although there is an alternate route which goes through Adidome to Ho, the inconvenience has been worsened by the bad nature the road.<\/p>\n
The President has promised to ensure funds are released in time to complete works on the roads.<\/p>\n
He acknowledged the willingness of the residents and commuters to express their concerns stating that, \u201cit lets me understand that there is more that we should do to communicate the intentions of government to the people.\u201d<\/p>\n
