{"id":265658,"date":"2016-11-06T11:38:14","date_gmt":"2016-11-06T11:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=265658"},"modified":"2016-11-06T11:38:14","modified_gmt":"2016-11-06T11:38:14","slug":"agi-awards-companies-for-outstanding-performance-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=265658","title":{"rendered":"AGI awards companies for outstanding performance [photos]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Association of Ghana Industries has awarded over twenty companies and industries for their outstanding achievements and their immense contribution to the development of Ghana`s economy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG-20161106-WA0005.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-65483\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65483\" src=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG-20161106-WA0005.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20161106-WA0005\" width=\"1280\" height=\"852\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This year`s event had seven award categories and 21 sector awards.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the sector awards included, Automobile Sector Awards, Agribusiness, Electricals and Electronics, Oil and Gas, and Pharmaceuticals, among others.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG-20161106-WA0006.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-65484\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65484\" src=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG-20161106-WA0006.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20161106-WA0006\" width=\"1280\" height=\"852\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG-20161106-WA0004.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-65490\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65490\" src=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG-20161106-WA0004.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20161106-WA0004\" width=\"1280\" height=\"852\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nIn his keynote address, the President of the AGI, James Asare-Adjei called on government to as a matter of urgency reconsider the Trade Liberalization policies and also address the problem of multiplicity of taxes that affect members of the AGI.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG-20161106-WA0007.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-65485\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65485\" src=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG-20161106-WA0007.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20161106-WA0007\" width=\"1280\" height=\"852\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He argued that the nature of the policy is gradually turning Ghana into a heavily import dependent economy, a situation he says is very worrying to local industries.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG-20161106-WA0000.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-65489\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65489\" src=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG-20161106-WA0000.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20161106-WA0000\" width=\"1280\" height=\"852\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He also pointed out, \u201cit is obvious that local industries are experiencing numerous challenges, to mention a few, access and cost of credit, high and unbearable electricity tariffs to industry, stiff competition to imported product\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG-20161106-WA0008.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-65486\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65486\" src=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG-20161106-WA0008.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20161106-WA0008\" width=\"1280\" height=\"852\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cwe have increasingly become an import dependent economy<br \/>\nI believe we must reconsider our trade liberalization policies which seems to give unlimited access to all kinds of imports into our markets.
