{"id":256834,"date":"2016-10-10T17:26:40","date_gmt":"2016-10-10T17:26:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=256834"},"modified":"2016-10-10T17:26:40","modified_gmt":"2016-10-10T17:26:40","slug":"2016-polls-full-list-of-disqualified-presidential-aspirants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=256834","title":{"rendered":"2016 Polls: Full list of disqualified presidential aspirants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Electoral Commission (EC) \u00a0today [Monday], disqualified thirteen persons who were hoping to contest the country&#8217;s presidential elections in December this year.<\/p>\n<p>The EC Chairperson, Charlotte Osei, who made the announcement at a news conference, said those <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/10\/ayarigas-apc-ppp-pnc-others-disqualified-from-2016-polls\/\">disqualified<\/a><\/strong><\/span> failed to meet the necessary requirements in filing their nomination forms.<\/p>\n<p>There were however different reasons for which each of the aspirants\u00a0were disqualified.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations closed today [Monday] with only 17 aspirants presenting their filled forms, although 23 people had picked up forms to contest.<\/p>\n<p>All the parties were supposed to submit their filing fees by midday today [Monday], after an Accra High court dismissed an injunction suit filed by the Progressive People\u2019s Party (PPP) in protest against\u00a0the fees.<\/p>\n<p>The disqualification of the thirteen, leaves <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/10\/mahama-nana-addo-greenstreet-and-joy-cleared-for-2016-polls\/\">only four candidates qualified <\/a><\/strong><\/span>for now, barring any last minute changes.<\/p>\n<p>The NPP&#8217;s Nana Akufo-Addo, the NDC&#8217;s John Dramani Mahama, the CPP&#8217;s Ivor Greenstreet, and Jacob Osei Yeboah, an independent Presidential candidate remain the only qualified persons\u00a0for the polls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Below is the full list of disqualified aspirants<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Aspirants<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hassan Ayariga \u00a0[APC]<\/p>\n<p>Akua Donkor \u00a0 \u00a0 [GFP]<\/p>\n<p>Akwasi Addai Odike [UPP]<\/p>\n<p>Papa Kwesi Nduom \u00a0[PPP]<\/p>\n<p>Edward Mahama \u00a0[PNC]<\/p>\n<p>Alfred Asiedu Walker [ Independent Candidate]<\/p>\n<p>Thomas N.
