{"id":256350,"date":"2016-10-09T14:06:50","date_gmt":"2016-10-09T14:06:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=256350"},"modified":"2016-10-09T14:06:50","modified_gmt":"2016-10-09T14:06:50","slug":"npp-ready-to-lead-ghana-to-sustained-development-kufour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=256350","title":{"rendered":"NPP ready to lead Ghana to sustained development \u2013 Kufour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former President, John Agyekum Kufour, has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is ready and determined to capture\u00a0power from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) after 8 years of being in opposition.<\/p>\n<p>Kufour said an NPP-led government will accelerate the country\u2019s development to the level of other developed countries in the world.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/09\/npp-2016-manifesto-launch-underway-photos\/\">Speaking at the party\u2019s manifesto launch in Accra<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, ex-president Kufour said the NPP\u2019s manifesto contained plans the party is committed to implementing when it is voted into power on December 7.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are determined and ready to take over the reins of the government of Ghana to steer it once more to the heights of development and prosperity as we once did,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur mission this time will be to accelerate the nation\u2019s development into the mainstream of developed countries of the world on sustainable basis,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of party supports from across the country have gathered at the Accra International Trade Fair Centre as the party launches its 2016\u00a0manifesto.<\/p>\n<p>The New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by flagbearer Nana Akufo Addo, is looking to unseat President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress who is also seeking re-election for a second term in office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rains threatened launch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A downpour in the national capital, Accra, today, threatened the launch of the manifesto as organizers were forced to halt the event setup.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of supporters however defied the weather, and made their way to the venue to witness the official launch of the election document.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8216;Business booming&#8217;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, scores of traders at the venue are making big sales at the venue.<\/p>\n<p>Party paraphernalia were in high demand as some traders cashed in on the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/09\/sales-of-kalyppo-soar-ahead-of-npp-manifesto-launch-photos\/\">Kalyppo craze trending on social media<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A photo of the flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, sipping the Kalyppo drink went viral on social media and\u00a0was mocked by political opponents, but supporters turned what was meant to be a troll to a campaign that has enjoyed a lot of support from many Ghanaians\u00a0including NPP bigwigs, who\u00a0posted photos of themselves drinking Kalyppo\u00a0in a show of support for Nana Addo.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Jonas Nyabor\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former President, John Agyekum Kufour, has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is ready and determined to capture\u00a0power from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) after 8 years of being in opposition.
