{"id":255826,"date":"2016-10-07T14:27:40","date_gmt":"2016-10-07T14:27:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=255826"},"modified":"2016-10-07T14:27:40","modified_gmt":"2016-10-07T14:27:40","slug":"police-probes-leaked-memo-over-road-check-directive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=255826","title":{"rendered":"Police probes leaked memo over &#8216;road check&#8217; directive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service,\u00a0has launched investigations into the leakage of an internal memo from the Police Administration, that <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/04\/police-suspends-checking-of-licenses-vehicle-documents\/\">directed the heads of various units under the service on new policing arrangements<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The memo, which was issued on Monday, October 3, ordered with immediate effect the suspension of all vehicle checks in the country. It also said personnel are to cease the inspection of driver\u2019s licenses and vehicle documents.<\/p>\n<p>Signed by the Commissioner of Police, Ransford Moses Ninson, it directed personnel on highway patrol to limit their work to inspection of cars for drugs and ammunition, only while officers of the Motor Traffic and Transport Division (MTTD), are to be deployed only for traffic management duties.<\/p>\n<p>The memo further said \u201call Regional, Divisional, District and Unit commanders are to ensure that no permits are issued for motor check duties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News<\/strong> sources say the CID is currently collaborating with some telecom operators in the country to track and identify the source of the leaked document.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the Director of Administration of the Ghana Police Service, COP Ransford Moses Ninson, said any police officer found to be culpable will be sanctioned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Police suspends study leave for 2016\/2017\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Another memo from the Police Service said, it had<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/05\/police-suspends-study-leave-for-20162017\/\"> suspended study leaves for the 2016\/2017 academic year<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. It said disciplinary action will be taken against any commander that forwards any study leave request to the police headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>The communique, signed by Commissioner of Police, Ransford Moses Ninson, noted that the order was coming from the Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor.
