Political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr. Alidu Seidu is asking that the chairperson of the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP), Samia Nkrumah conduct an introspection of her leadership style.<\/p>\n
Ms Nkrumah has been accused by her Vice chairpersons of being autocratic while sidelining the national executives in running the affairs of the party.<\/p>\n
This is the second time she has come under attack by members of her party over her leadership style.<\/p>\n
In 2012, the party\u2019s Women\u2019s and Youth organizers resigned after accusing Ms Nkrumah of running the party for her personal interest.<\/p>\n
Even though she has denied being autocratic, Dr. Alidu Seidu says her conduct if true will affect the party’s fortunes\u00a0in 2016.<\/p>\n
He recollected that there was a sense of optimism within the party when she was elected the chairperson due to her relation to the founder of the party and Ghana\u2019s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.<\/p>\n
According to him, she was also elected due to the contributions her father made to the development of the CPP and Ghana as a whole.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe organizational skills of her father was unparallel so people believed that giving that historical connection and bond, she was going to put up the same resilience, the same effort and the jealousy that was in her father to win elections,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Dr. Seidu noted that although the expectations of CPP members seems not to have been met, \u201cwe still need to investigate and if it is true that her leadership style is not very cooperative and dictatorial, then she has to re-examine that particular aspect of her leadership qualities.\u201d<\/p>\n
He advised her to do so with immediate effect to enable the party present a united front during the 2016 general elections.<\/p>\n
