<\/p>\nL\u2019Or\u00e9al West Africa has called on corporate institutions to take on the challenge of providing sustainable support for physically disabled persons through the creation of more capacity building ventures to help them become financially independent.<\/p>\n
The call was made when L\u2019Or\u00e9al West Africa recently refurbished the Demonstration School for the Deaf, Mampong.<\/p>\n
The Centre, which serves as a hair training academy for pupils of the school, who are trained in hair care and barbering, was built by L\u2019Or\u00e9al West Africa in 2009.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the unveiling of the refurbished facility, Mr. Sekou Coulibaly, General Manager of L\u2019Or\u00e9al West Africa said, \u201cThe days when physically disabled persons were considered as a liability in society are quickly passing. More and more people living with physical disabilities in Ghana continue to confound expectations by excelling at their chosen crafts and surpassing their peers.<\/p>\n

He added that, \u201cCorporate institutions can continue to play a role in empowering the physically challenged not just by making one-off donations, but by demonstrating a commitment to \u201csustainable long-term support.\u201d<\/p>\n
He concluded that, all of society has a role to play in ensuring that people living with physical disabilities are empowered to pursue their personal goals and dreams without barriers.<\/p>\n

\nThe unveiling of the refurbishment work done for the school, was held on 20th September 2016 as part of L\u2019Or\u00e9al West Africa\u2019s annual Corporate Social Responsibility campaign known as \u201cCitizen\u2019s Day\u201d.<\/p>\n
In the past, L\u2019Or\u00e9al West Africa has demonstrated its commitment to development and capacity building by mobilizing its staff to come together on Citizen\u2019s Day to give back to communities across the country.<\/p>\n
The refurbishment done as part of this year\u2019s Citizen\u2019s Day celebrations saw a replacement of hair dryers, installation of new salon hair sinks, provision of swivel chairs and two hair care sterilizers, repairs of ceiling and roofing, painting, and landscaping at the school, and presentation of Hair Care Products.<\/p>\n
Students and trainers were given refresher courses in new trends of hair dressing and braids management using Dark & Lovely Relaxers and Braids & Weaves products.<\/p>\n
Aside this, L\u2019Oreal West Africa committed to provide refresher courses for the Vocational teachers in modern hair trends.<\/p>\n

\nThe management of the Mampong School for the Deaf expressed profound gratitude to the entire staff of L\u2019Or\u00e9al West Africa.<\/p>\n
They were particularly grateful because this was a project that L\u2019Or\u00e9al West Africa had initiated and returned to maintain it.<\/p>\n
They praised this as a virtue their students could emulate by finishing everything they start.<\/p>\n
L\u2019Or\u00e9al West Africa also provided the school with some of its well renowned beauty products from Dark & Lovely, Maybelline New York and Blue Ice amongst others.<\/p>\n
