Two men have found themselves in trouble with the law for posing as military officers.<\/p>\n
Simon Dwomfour, alias \u201cKwabena Richard\u201d, and Stephen Akplele, were on Tuesday put before a Kumasi Circuit Court charged with possession of military accoutrement without authority and falsely pretending to be public officers.<\/p>\n
The pair pleaded not guilty to the charges and were each admitted to a GH\u023c10,000.00 bail, with two sureties.<\/p>\n
They were ordered by the court, presided over by Mr. Ekow Mensah, to make their next appearance on Friday, October 14.<\/p>\n
Police Chief Superintendent Emmanuel A. Akunnor said Dwomfour was arrested at Nfensi on the Kumasi-Sunyani road on September 11, dressed in military uniform, and escorting a truck loaded with timber products.<\/p>\n
Upon questioning, it was established that he was not a soldier and he was handed over to the Regional Police Criminal Investigations Department.<\/p>\n
The prosecution said police investigators saw on his phone a picture of himself standing with Akplele \u2013 both men, dressed in military camouflage and carrying MI6 assault rifle and a pump action gun.<\/p>\n
The officers moved swiftly to apprehend Akplele and a search of their rooms at Kenyase-Adwumam, in the Kwabre East District, uncovered a toy MI6 assault rifle, pump action gun, military accoutrement – uniform, boot, cap and bag.<\/p>\n
The judge, before granting them bail remarked that \u201cif the facts are anything to go by, then, some people are becoming bold these days\u201d.<\/p>\n
