Three crew members who were working on the Marine 711 vessel which was attacked by pirates on June 4, 2014 off the coast of Ghana have been sacked by their employers, World Marine Company.<\/p>\n
According to a handwritten letter handed to the sailors, they were accused of failing to discharge their duties, hence the decision to sack them.<\/p>\n
Some of the sailors who spoke to Citi News<\/strong> on condition of anonymity are however demanding compensation from their employers.<\/p>\n According to them, they subjected to severe beating when the pirates attacked their oil vessel.<\/p>\n \u201cThey slapped me so much that now when you talk, I can\u2019t hear properly and blood is always oozing from my ears,\u201d a sailor narrated his ordeal.<\/p>\n He described the sacking \u00a0as unfair, saying, \u201cafter all that we went through, we come to work and they tell us that those of us who were on duty when the pirates attacked us have been dismissed.\u201d<\/p>\n The sailor also added that three other individuals have been sacked \u201call because they asked for permission to visit the hospital for treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
