{"id":249218,"date":"2016-09-17T17:27:42","date_gmt":"2016-09-17T17:27:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=249218"},"modified":"2016-09-17T17:27:42","modified_gmt":"2016-09-17T17:27:42","slug":"sulemana-ibn-saeed-elected-new-npp-candidate-for-karaga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=249218","title":{"rendered":"Sulemana Ibn Saeed elected new NPP candidate for Karaga"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected Sulemana Ibn Saeed as their Parliamentary candidate for the Karaga constituency in the Northern Region.<\/p>\n<p>Through a Parliamentary primary re-run on Saturday September 17 at the Karaga local authority primary school, he secured 208 out of the total votes cast.<\/p>\n<p>His other contenders, a former District Chief Executive for the area, Baba Wahab, polled 168, whiles Imam Basha Firdaus polled 28 votes.<\/p>\n<p>The re-run was necessitated when the former candidate, Ibrahim Basha Shaharawi, stepped down on health grounds.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-249238 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Vote-3.jpg\" alt=\"vote-3\" width=\"651\" height=\"702\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The voting, supervised and conducted by the Electoral Commission, and witnessed by the NPP&#8217;s first Vice Chairman F. F Anto and the party&#8217;s Nasara Coordinator, Kamaldeen Abdullah, was generally peaceful.<\/p>\n<p>Sulemana Ibn Saeed thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and promised to wrestle the seat from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) on December 7.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-249236 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Vote-1.jpg\" alt=\"vote-1\" width=\"583\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He called for party unity and urged his other contenders to rally behind him to boost his chances of winning the seat.<\/p>\n<p>The Parliamentary re-run which was to be relocated to the Savelugu constituency for security reasons was finally held in Karaga.<\/p>\n<p>Sulemana Ibn Saeed is in race with the NDC&#8217;s incumbent Member of Parliament, Alhassan Sualihu Dandawa.<br \/>\n&#8211;<br \/>\nBy: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifminline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected Sulemana Ibn Saeed as their Parliamentary candidate for the Karaga constituency in the Northern Region.
