opens branch in Tamale to boost agribusiness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A technologically advanced non-profit oriented organization, Esoko, has opened its branch in Tamale to promote agribusiness within the Savannah ecological zone.<\/p>\n<p>The Tamale branch seeks to empower smallholder farmers within the Savannah ecological zone to improve their yields.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-242662 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/esoko-ghana-2.jpg\" alt=\"esoko ghana (2)\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Esoko will also link smallholder farmers to key actors in the agribusiness sector to improve their efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>Esoko\u2019s founder, Mark Davies at the official inaugural ceremony in Tamale, touted Northern Ghana as the nation\u2019s food basket, hence the need to establish the Tamale branch.<\/p>\n<p>He encouraged nucleus and smallholders farmers in Northern Ghana to take advantage of Esoko\u2019s well tailored services and improve their profit margins.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-242663 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/esoko-ghana-3.jpg\" alt=\"esoko ghana (3)\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He said Esoko\u2019s presence in Tamale will strengthen market linkages and also scale up smallholder farmers income capacity by 12%.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, smallholder farmers who have subscribed to his outfit\u2019s Information, Communication and Technology networking platform have made significant gains in the agribusiness sector.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Davies reassured Esoko\u2019s beneficiaries of accurate data they need to understand the value of their products which will determine their pricing policies.<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned Ghana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Sudan and Angola among some of the African countries Esoko operates in since 2004.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-242665 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/esoko-ghana-6.jpg\" alt=\"esoko ghana (6)\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Esoko\u2019s Managing Director, Daniel Asare-Adjei said\u00a0t it was established to bridge the gap in\u00a0information flow between smallholder farmers and key players in the agricultural value chain.<\/p>\n<p>He praised Esoko saying, \u201cWe are a pioneer in helping smallholder farmers to do business via mobile telephony.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He described the Tamale branch as unique against the backdrop that it is the only one established outside the national capitals of countries where it operates.<\/p>\n<p>According to Daniel Asare-Adjei, Esoko will continue to provide market price data, agriculture advisory services and networking to its subscribers.<\/p>\n<p>He said Esoko in 2012 put up a farmers help line covering 14 languages in Northern Ghana.\u00a0The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Abdullah Abubakari, in a speech read on his behalf commended Esoko management for decentralizing its operations to include the\u00a0Northern Region.<\/p>\n<p>He admonished the management to support\u00a0pragmatic measures put in place by government to boost the nation\u2019s food security.<\/p>\n<p>Alhaji Abdullah Abubakari posited that, Esoko\u2019s intervention will enhance government\u2019s Public-Private-Partnership drive.<\/p>\n<p>He reaffirmed government\u2019s determination to roll out new resilient agriculture methods necessary to cut government\u2019s wage bill on rice importation.<\/p>\n<p>Some beneficiaries of Esoko\u2019s services gave testimonies of the positive impact on their livelihood.\u00a0The Chief of Tamale, Naa Dakpema Dawuni Alhassan showed gratitude to Esoko\u2019s management for opening a branch in Tamale.<\/p>\n<p><img width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He inspired smallholder farmers in Northern Ghana to fully adopt Esoko\u2019s services.\u00a0Naa Dakpema Dawuni Alhassan promised to rally all his sub chiefs behind Esoko to achieve its goal.<\/p>\n<p>Esoko is an information and communication service agricultural markets networking platform operating in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The Esoko technology platform includes automatic and personalized local content SMS messaging, SMS polling and more.<\/p>\n<p>It serves as a response to the increasing usage of\u00a0cellular services across the African
