We have already taken care of this policy in the 2016 budget, and so we do not think that there is any problem,\u201d the Public Relations officer of the Ministry, Francis Gbadago told <strong>Citi News.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What the Day students are currently benefitting from, that\u2019s exactly what we are extending to the boarding students and at the appropriate time, other activities or other fees will be added,&#8221; he said<\/p>\n<p>The reassurance follows concerns over government&#8217;s ability to sustain the policy particularly \u00a0given recent economic\u00a0challenges.<\/p>\n<p>The deputy minister of Education in charge of tertiary, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced at the National Democratic Congress (NDC)&#8217;s campaign launch on Sunday, that the government would <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/14\/ghelections-free-shs-for-boarders-to-begin-september-ablakwa\/\"><strong>extend the\u00a0free education<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to boarding students for the next academic year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNext month September when the 2016\/2017 academic year begins, president Mahama will be launching the free SHS for borders. 120,000 borders are going to benefit from this programme as we expand progressively free senior high school education. Apart from quality and access, affordability is also key and so we have implemented the progressively free senior high school education.
