Members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association (CLOGSAG) risk losing their August salary if they do not call off their strike.<\/p>\n
This is according to the Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Haruna Iddrisu.<\/p>\n
Members of CLOGSAG have been on strike for<\/strong><\/span><\/a> the past two weeks, over the non-payment of their market premiums.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”NeMOi4PUoT82rRGZndIhDo6vZ1DPR5GF”]The National Labour Commission had asked CLOGSAG<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>to call off its strike with immediate effect, because it was illegal, but the Association remained adamant.<\/p>\n At a press briefing in Accra on Monday, Mr. Iddrisu advised leadership of CLOGSAG to \u00a0resume work and begin negotiations with government or forfeit their salaries.<\/p>\n \u201cWhile we recognize the right to make public manifestation and pronouncement of their unhappiness, we are unable to accommodate further strike and in particular to compensate for an illegal strike and to compensate for they not working for the period of August. Accordingly I have directed the head of civil service and the head of\u00a0 local government service to begin a head count and an audit from tomorrow and to submit same on Friday to my office for advice to the Controller and Ministry of Finance that we will not compensate for that unproductive behavior. They should return to work or forfeit August salaries,\u201dthe Minister insisted.<\/p>\n You can take our salaries – CLOGSAG\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n But the leadership of CLOGSAG \u00a0has indicated that its members are ready to forfeit their salaries until their demands are met.<\/p>\n Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, the Public Relations Officer for CLOGSAG, Eddie Acquaye asked members of the Association to continually press home their demands for an increment.<\/p>\n \u201cMembers should not entertain any fear, they should embrace themselves.
