Parliament has approved the nomination of Emmanuel Bombande and Joseph Tetteh Angmor, for the positions of deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Eastern Regional Minister respectively.<\/p>\n

However, the nomination of John Oti Bless as Deputy Local Government Minister has been deferred.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”s6EWi1aToYJKeTJyupBPCPWQCJX7ydsW”]Parliament has initially deferred the nomination of the three after the Vetting Committee\u00a0had cleared them for approval.<\/p>\n

The Speaker, Edward Doe Adjaho said consultations on the nomination of Oti Bless had not yet been completed.<\/p>\n

The Nkwanta North MP’s nomination for the position came under scrutiny following his performance at his vetting which many described as unconvincing.<\/p>\n

His nomination has been questioned further by revelations that he had made some derogatory comments about the Chief Justice, Georgina Woode on same\u00a0Montie FM programme which the two panelists and radio host<\/strong><\/a><\/span> had made death threats on Supreme Court justices.<\/p>\n

Oti Bless is on record as having accused the Chief Justice<\/strong><\/span><\/a> of \u2018conniving\u2019 with the opposition NPP in an attempt to reverse the election results in 2008 and in 2012 which saw the late John Evans Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama elected into office respectively.<\/p>\n

The development drove some members of the\u00a0Minority in Parliament to kick against his approval<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

According to Mr. Osei-Wusu, the MP\u2019s alleged participation in that programme and the comments he made against the Chief Justice, were improper for a public official.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe seriously\u00a0castigated the\u00a0Chief Justice. I would have wished that he would learn from what had happened to people who had made serious castigation against this House. How this House has dealt with them and would have been very circumspect,\u201d Osei Wusu argued while addressing the House.<\/p>\n

The deputy Majority Leader, Alfred Agbesi, insisted that Parliament was not under pressure to immediately take into account the evidence presented against Oti Bless before approving his nomination.<\/p>\n

He however, added that the leadership of the House would consult broadly on both sides taking a decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe position of Parliament is that the report of the committee has come.We are looking at it. Meanwhile extraneous things have been brought to our attention and that is why we have to stop now and look at those extraneous things and we are waiting for our leadership to take a decision,\u201d he told Citi News.<\/strong><\/p>\n
