{"id":235416,"date":"2016-07-29T20:00:07","date_gmt":"2016-07-29T20:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=235416"},"modified":"2016-07-29T20:00:07","modified_gmt":"2016-07-29T20:00:07","slug":"akua-donkor-numo-blafo-others-sign-petition-to-free-montie-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=235416","title":{"rendered":"Akua Donkor, Numo Blafo, others sign petition to free Montie 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The founder of the Ghana Freedom Party, Akua Donkor has joined the growing list of prominent sympathisers of the jailed Montie three as she has signed the petition for a presidential pardon for them.<\/p>\n<p>Other notables who signed the petition book today [Friday] included the Minster of Education; Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman and the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly; Numo Blafo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/6a3f944b-0f4a-497a-9f14-fc49007af69d.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-235418\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/6a3f944b-0f4a-497a-9f14-fc49007af69d.jpg\" alt=\"6a3f944b-0f4a-497a-9f14-fc49007af69d\" width=\"600\" height=\"441\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They join the likes of Deputy Education Minister in charge of tertiary; Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and the Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit, Valerie Sawyerr who on Thursday, signed the petition book.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/fc3cbd77-4f26-4c17-8cca-eba5f58b6dd9.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-235420\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/fc3cbd77-4f26-4c17-8cca-eba5f58b6dd9.jpg\" alt=\"fc3cbd77-4f26-4c17-8cca-eba5f58b6dd9\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A group calling itself the Research and Advocacy Platform (RAP), opened the petition book in a bid to persuade President Mahama to activate his prerogative of mercy powers under Article 72 of the 1992 Constitution.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/f38a1c6d-3963-4071-b774-79a8408d4abf.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-235421\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/f38a1c6d-3963-4071-b774-79a8408d4abf.jpg\" alt=\"f38a1c6d-3963-4071-b774-79a8408d4abf\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Alistair Nelson, Godwin Ako Gunn and\u00a0Salifu Maase, alias Mugabe, were sentenced to <a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/07\/27\/montie-panelists-mugabe-jailed-4-months\/\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>serve four months in jail<\/strong><\/span><\/a> on Wednesday, after they were found guilty of contempt charges.<\/p>\n<p>This was after they threatened the lives of the judges who were presiding over a\u00a0case on the credibility of the voters\u2019 register.<\/p>\n<p>The incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership in particular has described the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/07\/27\/ndc-slams-jailing-of-montie-3-urges-members-to-be-calm\/\">sentencing as harsh<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Delal Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The founder of the Ghana Freedom Party, Akua Donkor has joined the growing list of prominent sympathisers of the jailed Montie three as she has signed the petition for a presidential pardon for them.
