The Deputy Director of the Veterinary Services and the\u00a0National Project Coordinator of the\u00a0Bird\u00a0Flu, Dr. Eugene Murat Yelfaanibe who was reading a speech on behalf of Dr Hannah Bissiw, a Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) explained that the outlook of the\u00a0flu\u00a0in 2015,\u00a0compared to the 2016 outbreaks shows that the country is recording decreasing\u00a0numbers of the outbreak.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;mVEzlaLRTYfdWSs9bunkBled7D2V6ZLQ&#8221;]The outbreak of the\u00a0flu\u00a0saw the destruction of over twenty five thousand\u00a0birds.\u00a0\u00a0Giving the outlook of interventions put in place by government,\u00a0\u00a0 Dr. Murat gave\u00a0assurances that government will continue to work to stop the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n<p>He was speaking at a capacity building workshop for the media to enable journalists build content in order to report exactly and accurately the information you receive from the veterinary authorities, report in order to educate the general public on the disease.<\/p>\n<p>Assist in stopping the spread of the disease through your reporting devoid of sensation thereby creating panic and fear.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/agric-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-234988\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/agric-2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"agric 2\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The workshop was organised by the NADMO in collaboration with the Veterinary Service Directorate, MoFA, The\u00a0Food and Agriculture Organization\u00a0of the United Nations and the United States Agency for International Development (<em>USAID<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>He stated, \u201ca total of 36 out breaks sites were recorded in 2015 with 76,326 birds were destroyed in order to contain the spread of the disease.\u00a0 26434 also died naturally of the disease. In 2016 a total of 25970 were destroyed and 9864 birds died naturally of the disease from only 18 outbreak sites.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/agric-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-234989\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/agric-3-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"agric 3\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Despite the outbreak of the flu, our poultry industry is still resilient.
