{"id":234652,"date":"2016-07-27T17:47:22","date_gmt":"2016-07-27T17:47:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=234652"},"modified":"2016-07-27T17:47:22","modified_gmt":"2016-07-27T17:47:22","slug":"how-gh-twitter-reacted-to-the-montie-fm-verdict","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=234652","title":{"rendered":"How GH Twitter reacted to the Montie FM verdict"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court today [Monday] handed a four-month prison sentence to the Host of the &#8216;Pampaso&#8217; political show on Accra-based Montie FM, Salifu Maase, alias Mugabe, and the two panelists, Alistair Nelson, and Godwin Ako Gunn, after they were found guilty of contempt.<\/p>\n<p>The two panelists had threatened\u00a0to kill judges of the Supreme Court\u00a0during one of the discussions on the show.<\/p>\n<p>In Ghana, Twitter has been awash with hot takes following <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/07\/27\/montie-panelists-mugabe-jailed-4-months\/\">the verdict<\/a><\/strong><\/span> with majority of people expressing satisfaction with the ruling.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-234660\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/warning.png\" alt=\"warning\" width=\"633\" height=\"190\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The three were also fined GHc 30,000, with each of them paying GHc 10,000. A section of twitter viewed the ruling as an affirmation of the justice system.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-234657\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Law-works.png\" alt=\"Law works\" width=\"627\" height=\"193\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One Twitter user even garnered an explanation for the four month sentence from the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/07\/18\/montie-fm-suit-alistair-nelson-blames-strange-disease-for-outburst\/\">Kpokpogbligbli incident<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-234658\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Capture-1.png\" alt=\"Capture\" width=\"630\" height=\"194\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Some were however unhappy with the four month sentence as as they felt it was not harsh enough, following the threat on the lives of Supreme Court judges.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-234656\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/rawlings-meme.png\" alt=\"rawlings meme\" width=\"630\" height=\"571\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the takeaways from the Montie FM saga is; radio stations better start issuing disclaimers for their programmes as the owners are to pay heavy fines.<\/p>\n<p>The four\u00a0directors of \u00a0Network Broadcasting Limited, owners of Montie FM; Ato Ahwoi, Edward Addo, Kwesi Kyei Atuah, and Kwesi Bram Addo, are to <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/07\/27\/owners-of-montie-fm-fined\/\">pay a fine of Ghc30,000<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.
