{"id":231573,"date":"2016-07-16T14:19:40","date_gmt":"2016-07-16T14:19:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=231573"},"modified":"2016-07-16T14:19:40","modified_gmt":"2016-07-16T14:19:40","slug":"ec-affirms-nduom-as-flagbearer-of-ppp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=231573","title":{"rendered":"EC affirms Nduom as Flagbearer of PPP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Electoral Commission has affirmed founder and leader of\u00a0the Progressive People\u2019s Party (PPP), Dr.\u00a0Paa Kwesi Nduom as the party&#8217;s Flagbearer for the 2016 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>Affirming Dr. Nduom, the Greater Accra Regional Electoral Officer,\u00a0Kwame Amoah said &#8220;at the end of the nomination processes, it is only Dr. Nduom who fulfilled the requirements. It is my duty then to affirm Dr. Ndoum as the Flagbearer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The affirmation was done at the <a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/07\/16\/ppps-3rd-national-convention-underway-photos\/\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>party&#8217;s third National<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>Convention being held at Trade Fair in Accra.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Nduom endorsed\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The affirmation comes months after the party\u00a0endorsed him as the party\u2019s flagbearer for the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to present the 2012 candidate again was made at a meeting that was held in May, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The business magnate was the only person who picked forms when nominations were opened in 2015 hence the committee&#8217;s decision.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Nduom placed 3rd in the 2012 presidential election garnering 64,362 votes representing 0.59 percent.
