A man\u00a0has built a \u00a377million\u00a0replica of Noah\u2019s ark to prove that the story actually happened.<\/p>\n

Back in 2010 Ken Ham, who believes everything in the Bible should be taken literally, announced that his organisation Answers in Genesis would construct\u00a0the 510-foot-long ship\u00a0in Kentucky.<\/p>\n

Since then, scientists have been arguing\u00a0that it would be detrimental to children\u2019s education \u2013 taking particular umbrage with the fact that it was granted state tax incentives.<\/p>\n

However, it was opened to great fanfare on Tuesday \u2013 with a high school marching band performing before a ribbon cutting.<\/p>\n

\u2018I believe this is going to be one of the greatest Christian outreaches of this era in history,\u2019 Ham, president of Answers in Genesis, said.<\/p>\n

The attraction, called Ark Encounter, is based on the Old Testament tale about Noah, \u00a0a man who got a warning from God that a flood would destroy the world.<\/p>\n

Ham says the ark will now stand as proof that stories in\u00a0the Bible are true.<\/p>\n
