{"id":228780,"date":"2016-07-07T14:30:24","date_gmt":"2016-07-07T14:30:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=228780"},"modified":"2016-07-07T14:30:24","modified_gmt":"2016-07-07T14:30:24","slug":"woman-charged-for-pouring-acid-on-boyfriend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=228780","title":{"rendered":"Woman charged for pouring acid on boyfriend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 26-year-old woman who allegedly poured acid on her boyfriend, Esther Enyonam Pekyi, has been charged.<\/p>\n<p>She was charged with attempted murder but the Attorney General today [ Thursday], revised it to causing\u00a0harm using an offensive weapon.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Police in Accra <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/02\/14\/girl-who-bathed-boyfriend-with-acid-remanded\/\">arrested Esther<\/a><\/strong><\/span> who had been on the run for months.\u00a0This was after<strong> Citi News<\/strong> provided the Police with <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/02\/06\/how-citi-fm-aided-arrest-of-lady-who-poured-acid-on-lover\/\">intelligence <\/a><\/strong><\/span>leading to her arrest.<\/p>\n<p>Esther allegedly poured the chemical on her boyfriend, Eric Ohemeng, a student of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), after a disagreement between the two.<\/p>\n<p>Eric, with support from <strong>Citi FM<\/strong> and GIMPA, survived the near-death incident after <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/02\/08\/man-bathed-with-acid-loses-one-eye-needs-e55000-for-surgery\/\">series of surgeries<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>His right eye and genitals were affected by the incident.<\/p>\n<p>He earlier told the\u00a0Citi Breakfast Show Host, Bernard Avle, that he needs the surgery so he could feel normal again.<\/p>\n<p>He said he had to stay indoors for two months since he left the Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t go out; for the past two months that I left the hospital, I have not gone out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A group of seven students from GIMPA had to start a \u201cSave Eric Ohemeng\u201d campaign to raise money for his surgery which was carried out in Germany due to the absence of the necessary equipment to do it locally.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Franklin Badu Jnr\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 26-year-old woman who allegedly poured acid on her boyfriend, Esther Enyonam Pekyi, has been charged.
