The National House of Chiefs has again warned chiefs across the country to desist from openly endorsing presidential candidates ahead of the elections.<\/p>\n
This comes on the back of some endorsements received by flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo from some chiefs in the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n
Addressing journalists in Accra, President of the National House of Chiefs,\u00a0Prof. Naa Nabila condemned the move, arguing that the practice violates the constitution.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”ZymSaBhQ577dGQz9biQPdQR8fGGENs2r”]\u201cThey should refer to the constitution which says we shouldn\u2019t take part in active party politics, but it doesn\u2019t mean that you cannot belong. We haven\u2019t been endorsing them. We have said so many times that we don\u2019t support any particular party.\u201d<\/p>\n
Prof. Nabila said though they have been admonishing the chiefs not to take entrenched positions he said, \u201cwe can\u2019t control them, we can only advise them.\u201d<\/p>\n
2 Eastern Region chiefs support Nana Addo<\/strong><\/p>\n Two chiefs in the Eastern Region had\u00a0pledged<\/strong><\/a><\/span> their unflinching support for Nana Addo who is seeking to annex power in the upcoming November general elections.<\/p>\n The two are \u00a0Osabarima Agyeman Boasia II, chief of Boso, in the Asuogyaman constituency and\u00a0Osabarima Adugyei Gyamfi II, chief of the Akyem Akrofufu Traditional Area gave the assurance\u00a0when Nana Addo campaigned in the region over the weekend.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin A.
