{"id":224988,"date":"2016-06-24T12:00:38","date_gmt":"2016-06-24T12:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=224988"},"modified":"2016-06-24T12:00:38","modified_gmt":"2016-06-24T12:00:38","slug":"pressure-on-sada-management-led-to-financial-impropriety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=224988","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Pressure on SADA management led to financial impropriety&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Chief Executive Officer of the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), Charles Abugri, has attributed the financial mismanagement recorded in the early years of SADA to\u00a0pressure from the media and society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis happened because SADA went into big projects largely because of the pressure of the society and journalists to show that there are results, immediate results,\u201d Mr. Abugri has stated.<\/p>\n<p>A report by the Auditor General in 2013 revealed high levels of <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/22\/6-areas-sada-misapplied-your-ghc28m-infographic\/\">financial impropriety<\/a><\/strong><\/span> at the authority.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;PO6CRaAgkxRFfTTWo6X3xEpMW9c2pLIv&#8221;]This came to light when the new management of SADA appeared before the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/20\/report-on-sadas-expenses-most-disgraceful-atta-kyea\/\">Public Accounts Committee <\/a><\/strong><\/span>of Ghana\u2019s Parliament on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament has ordered the authority to <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/21\/surcharge-ex-sada-boss-for-blowing-ghc186000-on-trips-pac\/\">surcharge SADA\u2019s former boss<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Alhaji Gilbert Seidu Iddi, for wasting over GHc 186, 000 on a trip to Turkey, some four years ago.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New management has learned from mistakes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, Mr. Abugri however said the new management of SADA had learned from the mistakes of their predecessors, and had resolved to build resilient systems and employ services of competent personnel to work for the authority.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the instances of financial impropriety \u201cwere also probably because the institution was extremely young without the appropriate systems, infrastructure and human resource\u00a0to operate it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have to build the systems.
