{"id":223859,"date":"2016-06-20T12:43:37","date_gmt":"2016-06-20T12:43:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=223859"},"modified":"2016-06-20T12:43:37","modified_gmt":"2016-06-20T12:43:37","slug":"i-dont-regret-campaigning-for-mahama-dumelo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=223859","title":{"rendered":"I don&#8217;t regret campaigning for Mahama &#8211; Dumelo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Actor John Dumelo has stated that he is not perturbed by criticisms and insults hurled at him over his open support for President John Dramani Mahama, and the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.<\/p>\n<p>The actor, who ahead of the 2012 elections campaigned for John Dramani Mahama, is back on the campaign trail ahead of the polls this November.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing students of the Akatsi College of Education during the inauguration of the party\u2019s tertiary youth wing, TEIN, the actor said he is not perturbed by such condemnations, stating that his decision to support Mahama was one of his best decisions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook, since I decided to say that I am for John Dramani Mahama and the NDC, I have been insulted, I have been bashed, I have been threatened and everything. But you know what, I don\u2019t care!! You know why, because I know I am standing for a good thing in life\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Actor John Dumelo spotted at NDC rally in Ho<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In November 19 2015, award winning Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo, was spotted at the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/11\/20\/actor-john-dumelo-spotted-at-ndc-rally-in-ho\/\">Ho Jubilee Park<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in the Volta Region, where President John Dramani Mahama was addressing supporters of the incumbent National Democratic Congress to end his \u201cChanging Lives, Transforming Ghana\u201d tour.<\/p>\n<p>The movie star, who has not hidden his soft spot for the NDC, was seen on national television seated alongside big wigs of the party as President Mahama addressed the enthusiastic crowd ahead of the party\u2019s parliamentary primaries scheduled for Saturday November 21.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Dumelo, who like many others in the showbiz industry, has been criticized for actively getting involved in politics, became a subject of public discussion in May 2015, when he reportedly stated that Ghanaians were putting undue pressure on President Mahama to fix the country\u2019s economic challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Dumelo later explained that his sentiments expressed had been \u201ctotally misread and misconstrued.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-223937 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Dumelo-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Dumelo 1\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Days after the backlash, John, who did a radio commercial for the NDC ahead of the 2012 elections, hinted that he was ready to join the campaign of any party that preaches a message he can associate with.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes I did a TV commercial for the NDC in 2012 because I loved the message they preached. I must state here that it was purely voluntary. I wasn\u2019t paid for that and I wasn\u2019t expected to be paid for that. I did it for the love of the country.
