{"id":223565,"date":"2016-06-19T08:35:45","date_gmt":"2016-06-19T08:35:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=223565"},"modified":"2016-06-19T08:35:45","modified_gmt":"2016-06-19T08:35:45","slug":"6-counterfeit-iphones-from-chinese-manufacturers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=223565","title":{"rendered":"6 counterfeit iPhones from Chinese manufacturers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apple is one of the biggest targets when it comes to Chinese smartphone knockoffs \u2014 it&#8217;s not uncommon to hear about a device being sold overseas that looks strikingly similar to the iPhone.<\/p>\n<p>So it came as a surprise on Friday when a\u00a0battle between Apple and China over an iPhone patent entered the public eye, calling Apple a copycat manufacturer.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese manufacturer\u00a0Shenzhen Baili alleges the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus designs infringe upon its own 100C smartphone intellectual property, according to a <i>Wall Street Journal<\/i> report.\u00a0The case is currently being reviewed by the Beijing IP Court.<\/p>\n<p>Watch this video to see for yourself how similar the 100C is to the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus (hint: it&#8217;s not):<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"popout\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"managed-yt-1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ppmsvrcm47k?enablejsapi=1&amp;\" width=\"750\" height=\"375\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Apple has been copied so many times by Chinese manufacturers that it&#8217;s hard to take Shenzhen Baili seriously. To hit home that point, we&#8217;ve rounded up some of the best fake iPhones and other Apple products that have popped up in China.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. They are also devoid of the Apple icon on the back \u2014 instead, the Goophone i6 has a bumblebee logo.<\/p>\n<p>For a full look at its model offerings, visit Goophone&#8217;s online store.<\/p>\n<p class=\"h2\"><strong>2. Knockoff iPhone 6S<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Other iPhone knockoffs come at even cheaper prices, including this fake $37 iPhone 6S found by\u00a0ARMdevices.net, which looks almost exactly like an iPhone 6S with a slightly bigger home button and a modified operating system. It&#8217;s even the same size as the 6S.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"giphy-embed\" src=\"http:\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/3oEjI4FXDdC9ao3dTi?html5=true\" width=\"625\" height=\"431\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>One interesting concept with this fake iPhone with its not-quite-iOS software is the way it dedicates full pages on the home screen to playing music and looking at photos. Maybe Apple could look to some of these professional fakers for future iPhone inspiration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"h2\"><strong>3. Fake iPhone SE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sometimes Chinese manufacturers even get ahead of the game and put out new iPhones before Apple does. YouTuber EverythingApplePro purchased a knockoff iPhone SE produced before the real SE design was announced.<\/p>\n<p>The real iPhone SE is on the left and the knockoff is on the right:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"giphy-embed\" src=\"http:\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/l46CaAyt6dDUptHa0?html5=true\" width=\"625\" height=\"433\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The knockoff iPhone SE is based on some possible design concepts that were circulating around the Internet before its announcement and has a design closer to an iPhone 6 than the iPhone 5S. Inside the shell is actually just the hardware and software of an iPhone 5S.<\/p>\n<p class=\"h2\"><strong>4. Imitation C-002 iPhone<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These counterfeiters didn&#8217;t just start copying Apple within the past two years. Aside from the off-center square on the home button and the Apple-like OS, this could easily be a completely different smartphone.<\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s\u00a0<i>just<\/i>\u00a0enough design features lifted from iPhone to know it wants to ride Apple&#8217;s coattails.<\/p>\n<p class=\"h2\"><strong>5. It also looks like it has a thick metallic back, which doesn&#8217;t quite live up to the aesthetics of the original iPhone.<\/p>\n<p>If you squint, you can also see a Windows logo in the top-left corner of the Cool999&#8217;s screen. That&#8217;s right \u2014 the phone runs Windows Mobile 6.0, which is pretty ironic for a fake iPhone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"h2\"><strong>6. Copycat iOS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not only are people taking iPhone designs and hardware and repurposing them, some are ripping off the software too.
