{"id":223459,"date":"2016-06-18T13:48:28","date_gmt":"2016-06-18T13:48:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=223459"},"modified":"2016-06-18T13:48:28","modified_gmt":"2016-06-18T13:48:28","slug":"ndc-voting-in-shai-osudoku-to-replace-deceased-aspirant-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=223459","title":{"rendered":"NDC voting in Shai Osudoku to replace deceased aspirant [Photos]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several\u00a0voters have queued to cast their vote in the NDC parliamentary primary in\u00a0the Shai Osudoku Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, to replace the party&#8217;s candidate who died in a car crash in March, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The election, which started few minutes after 7:00am, is expected to end at 5:00pm.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-223461\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/b0f50b6e-f427-48c1-8b2a-5d352caf6e4d.jpg\" alt=\"b0f50b6e-f427-48c1-8b2a-5d352caf6e4d\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The situation is generally calm at few polling stations <strong>Citi News<\/strong> visited in the constituency.<\/p>\n<p>At the post office polling station in Dodowa, a total of about one thousand voters are expected to cast their votes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-223464\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/ca948106-25c5-4af4-b5d6-82e9219a07c0.jpg\" alt=\"ca948106-25c5-4af4-b5d6-82e9219a07c0\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As at 12:00 noon, about 500 people had gone through the process successfully.\u00a0A total of 14,800 voters are expected to cast their vote in the constituency.\u00a0The election is taking place in 50 polling stations in the constituency.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-223460\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2b18fd33-8c4b-4157-a75b-44f774129476.jpg\" alt=\"2b18fd33-8c4b-4157-a75b-44f774129476\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The two candidates contesting are Linda Akwele Ocloo, the wife of the late Parliamentary Candidate, and Michael Kpessa Whyte, acting Executive Director of the National Service Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>The NDC Shai Osudoku parliamentary slot became vacant after the elected candidate William Ocloo, died in a <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/03\/04\/ndc-shai-osuduku-parl-candidate-dies-in-car-crash\/\">tragic accident<\/a><\/strong><\/span> at Juaso in the Ashanti Region, shortly after he was elected.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-223465\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/99276302-c763-4d8d-90ff-e6f315807ce9.jpg\" alt=\"99276302-c763-4d8d-90ff-e6f315807ce9\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Linda Akwele Ocloo, wife of the late candidate, although in a mourning mood, opted to honour her husband&#8217;s memory by vying for the seat. Dr. Kpessa White, who&#8217;s also a presidential staffer, is contesting the primary for the second time.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the voters who spoke to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> noted that, they believe Dr. Kpessa Whyte with his pedigree, will bring more development to the constituency when voted for.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dr Kpessa Whyte is my man and I know he will emerge victorious after today&#8217;s polls&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-223463\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/4817017e-2811-4084-bf34-09451f9a72f8.jpg\" alt=\"4817017e-2811-4084-bf34-09451f9a72f8\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Another voter also stated that, Linda Ocloo stands the higher chance of winning the elections because her late husband did a lot to help the youth, and also has great plans for the constituency.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I know Mrs. Ocloo will win this election because she will carry \u00a0on her late husband&#8217;s vision&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I won\u2019t contest Shai Osu-Doku NDC primary \u2013 Tetteh Assumeng<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The National Democratic Congress&#8217; (NDC) incumbent Member of Parliament MP for Shai Osu Doku, David Tetteh Assumeng, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/03\/08\/i-wont-contest-shai-osu-doku-ndc-primary-tetteh-assumeng\/\">opted out of the\u00a0primary<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in solidarity with the deceased,\u00a0Desmond William Ocloo.<\/p>\n<p>Desmond William Ocloo won the party\u2019s primary in November 2015.<\/p>\n<p>He triumphed over David Tetteh-Assumeng, who has been in Parliament since 2004.
