A Ugandan soldier has killed seven people, including three children, in a shooting spree at a military police barracks in the capital, Kampala.<\/p>\n
The soldier, Sgt Isaac Obua, was then shot dead himself.<\/p>\n
Military police spokesman Maj Edward Birungi said Sgt Obua had had a dispute with his wife.<\/p>\n
He is reported to have got drunk and then started shooting while searching for his wife, who managed to escape.<\/p>\n
As well as the three children, Sgt Obua killed a female soldier and three soldiers’ wives. Two others are said to be injured during the shooting at Makindye barracks in the south of Kampala.<\/p>\n
Army spokesperson Lt Col Paddy Ankunda tweeted “Sgt Obua… has just gone bonkers killed seven people”.<\/p>\n
He then tweeted: “We are all mourning.”<\/p>\n
The BBC’s Patience Atuhaire in Kampala says that there have been several incidents of soldiers going on the rampage in Uganda.<\/p>\n
In May, three people were killed and six injured in a bar. And in 2014, a soldier killed 10, also in a bar.<\/p>\n
