{"id":223115,"date":"2016-06-17T08:11:49","date_gmt":"2016-06-17T08:11:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=223115"},"modified":"2016-06-17T08:11:49","modified_gmt":"2016-06-17T08:11:49","slug":"commodity-prices-for-3rd-week-in-june-cassava-loses-while-gari-gains","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=223115","title":{"rendered":"Commodity prices for 3rd week in June: Cassava loses while gari gains"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The price of fresh tubers of cassava has declined for the second consecutive time in June.<\/p>\n<p>The price of the commodity dropped by 3 percent to close the week at 7 cedis 50 pesewas for three to four tubers.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile gari recorded the highest gain in price for the third week in June.<\/p>\n<p>According to figures released by Esoko Ghana, the price of the commodity increased by 4 percent to close the week at 6 cedis 60 pesewas per medium size tin.<\/p>\n<p>Yam also followed with a 3 percent increase in its price.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_57923\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-57923\" style=\"width: 934px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-57923 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/esoko-june-17.png\" alt=\"Details of the prices of the various commodities across the various markets in Ghana\" width=\"934\" height=\"473\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-57923\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Details of the prices of the various commodities across the various markets in Ghana<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A medium size tuber of yam is now selling at 7 cedis 20 pesewas.<\/p>\n<p>The prices of groundnut, soyabean and cowpea all went up by 2 and 1 percent each respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The price of millet, maize and wheat also declined in prices.<\/p>\n<p>While a medium tin of millet is now selling at 5 cedis 40 pesewas, maize and wheat are now selling at 5 cedis 80 pesewas and 12 cedis 50 pesewas respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Esoko reports that across the various markets, a \u201cmedium size tomato tin\u201d full of fresh tomatoes dropped 21 percent in Kumasi and Techiman to close the week at 14 cedis 70 pesewas and\u00a0 11 cedis respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The commodity however made some gain in Accra, Bawku, Tamale and Damba.<\/p>\n<p>In Accra, it gained 14 percent to close the week at 13 cedis 30 pesewas; in Bawku it gained by 29 percent to close the week at 7 cedis 20 pesewas.<\/p>\n<p>However in Tamale, the price of tomato gained 20 percent to close the week at 7 cedis 20 pesewas.<\/p>\n<p>In the other markets, the price remained the same.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Pius Amihere Eduku\/citibusinessnews.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The price of fresh tubers of cassava has declined for the second consecutive time in June.
